Natamaya, El Salvador

This rich, structured coffee comes from fourth generation El Salvadoran producer Nena Mendez, and her husband Hermann. The Mendez family is deeply invested in their local community. In 2012 they built a new school and soccer field, near their farm, in the village of El Portezuelo.

Through our partnership with the Mendez family, $1 from the purchase of this coffee goes to support the school.

Nena Mendez and her husband Hermann own and operate Natamaya, a farm in Sonsonate, El Salvador. The farm is named after their daughters, Natalia and Mayita, who are the fifth generation of coffee growers in El Salvador, dating back to the 1880s on Nena’s side.

The family bought the farm and wanted to use their platform as producers to give back to the community at the top of the mountain. The community told the Mendez family that their greatest need was a school. In 2012, Nena and Hermann purchased a lot in the center of the village to build the school on. The SQ Foundation gave them their first donation, which was used to construct the school and a soccer field for the children.

Irving Farm continues to donate one dollar from the sale of every bag to the school at El Portezuelo.
